Tuition Assistance Reduced to 70%
The Iowa National Guard has announced that, for the remainder of the academic
year 2009-2010 the maximum IANG Tuition Assistance award has been set at
70% for the Regents average tuition rate. Before the 2009-2010 academic
year began, the tuition rate had been set at 100%, but early in the year
it became clear that, based on the number of applcants, there would not
be enough to fund at the 100% rate. Thus the rate was reduced to 80%.
When Governor Culver announce an across the board 10% budget reducation
across all divisions of state government, the National Guard reduced the
rate to 70%. The Guard announced that the remaining 30% would be made up
by Fed TA and that the Fed TA application process would be handled internally
by the National Guard..
