VA Changes Telephone Inquiries
The VA has announced that it will be phasing out the individual RPO phone units and consolidating the all phone inquiries at the VA Regional Office in Muskogee, Oklahoma. The phone number for inquiries will remain the same, 1-888-442-4551.
The change is scheduled to be made in late Fall.
Prior Credit No Longer Required on Certifications
The VA has announced that the long held practice of requiring certifying
officials to enter a number of semester hours or quarter hours of prior
credit on inital certifications is no longer required. Colleges and universities
are still required to determine prior credit, but are no longer required
to report it.
VA-ONCE has been updated to reflect this change.
Changes Made To WAVE
In an effort to increase self-sevice and reduce phone calls two changes
are being made to the Web Automated Verification of Enrollment (WAVE) system.
The changes will appear when the student clicks on the "Benefit Status
Information" link.
1) Under the section "Your School Attendance", the monthly rate
has been added. Perviously this displayed only start date, end date, credits
and status (Full-time, Part-time, etc.). Since the monthly rate is needed
for Financial Aid purposes, users can now print this WAVE screen if they
have misplaced their award letter.
2) A "Remaining Benefits" section has been added. This gives
the user the number of month and days of remaining entitlement.
Both the monthly rate and the remaining entitlement are populated from
a BDN extract. This should reflect the same information found in the "VA
Data" section of VA-ONCE. The change was made on August 26, 2007.
